This course is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation of one specific firearm model or action - preferably the participant's. However, participant's who do not yet own their own firearm may use a firearm provided by the Trainer. Through this course, the student will learn about rifle safety, parts and operation, introduction to ammunition and the fundamentals of rifle shooting, shooting from the benchrest position, rifle cleaning and storage. This is a great class for youth and adults alike who have never handled and shot a firearm and do not know where to start. Start here!

There is a maximum of 6 students allowed for this class so the kids get
the best experience!
This is a youth class for boys and girls ages 11-14.
(Contact us if you have a preferred age group and would like a class).
We have learned that kids get more out of the class when there is not a wide age gap between them. Students are encouraged to have completed Hunter Safety education or an NRA Basic rifle class (but not required). Students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Your favorite hunting rifle firearm, good attitude, 50 rounds of ammunition minimum. You can borrow one of our bolt-action rifles if you need, but you must purchase our ammo to use in our guns. Ammo provided at additional charge. Further instructions will be emailed after registration.
Youth students will develop marksmanship skills and earn Hunter Marksmanship qualification ratings while practicing with a favorite hunting gun. These specially designed skill-building courses of fire are ideal for new shooters as well as those seeking further coaching. We make this class fun for the kids.
Preferred Rifle and Equipment:
Sights: Metallic, telescopic or electronic sights are permitted.
Positions: Firing is conducted in four positions: supported prone, supported sitting, supported kneeling, and supported standing.
Support: Artificial support to brace both the body and the gun is allowed. Examples of artificial support include gun rest, barricade, log, bench, sandbag, cross-sticks, pillow and table. You can bring your own favorite support or use one of ours.
Targets and Distance: Targets and distances based on rating trying to achieve.
Course Objectives: Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting. Teaches a general introduction to the parts and operation of multiple rifle types and actions. Teaches basic and fundamental shooting positions. Teaches basic and fundamental rifle marksmanship skills.
8 Hours. (Can be divided into 2 days) Includes classroom and range time.

This is a basic class so all technical and safety items are included. Further instructions will be emailed after registration.
This course is at least 8 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. This class can be tailored for youth or adult classes. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, Students will take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate upon successful completion of exam and course. This is a great class for someone coming in with little or no rifle knowledge and experience and wanting a step by step detailed path to confidence in handling and operating a rifle safely and accurately.
